The following message was received by one of the visitor’s at our first rally....
To be quite honest...I felt like a Leper. That was the most unfriendly, un social bunch of guys I have encounted in a long time. Tried to be friendly, ask questions...you and the older fella that has a hovercraft on the Yukon were the only friendly ones there. The guy with the Subaru engine just wanted the whole parking lot cause he couldn't manuver the moterhome & trailer. Everywhere I parked he wanted me to move. Quite frankly - I was very un-impressed by the bunch. I've had warmer receiptions visiting some stranger on his gold claim.
Sorry Ken,
At this point Nothing you can do to help this. Those guys all but completely turned me off of hovering. I wouldn't walk across the street to say hi to them. And it is not just me. My wife felt the same. If they feel that their little group is so tight and close nit that no one else should be talked to...that is fine with me. What you "thought" was going good was me walking along listening to a conversation that did not involve me but other things that had gone on in the past. Nothing about promoting hovering, the group, inviting into the group etc. We didn't leave because of the storm or mother natures coldness - we left because of the coldness from the "hovernuts". We didn't leave the lake until Sunday morning, just went where we felt more welcome.
You have my permission to pass this on to them and let them know where it came from. I'm a straight shooter and tell it like it is. If they don't like it, oh well, maybe they'll be even less friendly should they see me again.
Sincerely,
Lee |

Lee,
HOVERCRAFT, ALASKA® is shocked and dismayed , we appologize sincerely for these actions.
We have talked to this goup and they are called "Hovercrafts of Alaska @ Hovercrafts R'us", that is what is on thier card anyway. They are building a new group, and want to be exclusive hovercraft owner/operators only . They are subsiding from the "shaky" stituation that the Hovercraft Club Of Alaska is in!
We learned a lesson from this hover'in. Do not have it after a long 3 day weekend. Only 2 spectators showed up. In a way we are glad no-one else showed up. Who is to say what else could have happened in our first time trail event? HOVERCRAFT, ALASKA® will continue our endovor of being dedicated to the education of hovercraft, and will always be there to help ANYONE! _________________ CEO, Hovercraft Alaska |
